ACTIVA unveiling the Present and the Future at Sydney International
Boat Show
12 June 2008
Visitors to the spectacular marina
at the 2008 Sydney International Boat Show are in for a treat when
they stop by the ACTIVA display. ACTIVA Motor Yachts (AUST) will be
showing off its latest creation in the form of the all new ACTIVA
5300 Raised Pilothouse.
Australia was chosen for the world release of this awe inspiring
coastal cruising Motor Yacht, which is large enough to cruise
Australia and entertain family & friends, yet small enough for 1
person to handle and dock.
With industry legend Charles Chang a Naval Architect and Marine
Engineer at the helm of ACTIVA Marine in Asia, ACTIVA has set new
standards for vessel design and construction. Charles Chang has been
building boats for over 30 years with more than 500 in use world
wide.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Charles has updated the model
range with revamped designs for existing models and introduced five
new models for 2008, including their flag ship “The ACTIVA Legacy
8500”.
The boat on display in Sydney boasts a pair of D9 Volvo 575 marine
diesels, and offers the performance characteristics one would
normally associate with a smaller vessel. Fuel usage at cruising
speeds is where the ACTIVA 5300 stands out from the crowd, the 5300
hardly uses any. For those in a hurry the display vessel can exceed
22 Knots, with large motor sizes also available up to 30 Knots. The
vessel also has powerful bow and stern thrusters for precision
maneuvering and a stand up engine room.
Kevin Sulzberger the Australian Importer for ACTIVA Marine does not
hold back when discussing the 5300 Pilothouse design.
“This boat will revolutionise low fuel usage coastal cruiser designs
for years to come” he declares.
Those who board this exciting ‘revolution’ will notice one of the
largest flybridges in the 50’ range boats offering such additional
space that the ‘bridge could be termed and extra cabin! It is much
larger than a normal bridge and boasts a second kitchen as well as
an aft deck ‘overhang’ that eliminates the need for cockpit canvas.
It also has an internal staircase as well as stairs from the
cockpit.
Meanwhile, the custom designed Golden Teak interior entices you with
a full width central owner’s stateroom, a further stateroom forward
and a two berth cabin port, large dining area and spacious galley.
Perfect for entertaining, the saloon is impressively spacious and
includes many extra features, such as the triple size cockpit doors,
an entertainment unit incorporating an LCD/TV with DVD player, sound
equipment as well as a hi-low table for entertaining convenience.
All ACTIVA Motor Yachts from the small 4600 (46’) to the “Legacy
8500” are wired to AS/NZS 3000 sec 6 or AS/NZS 3017 with full
compliance.
Such has been the incredible success of ACTIVA Marine that Charles
Chang is building a new factory on the Yangtze River in Shanghai.
The new 33,000 sq. ft building will house a team of professional
boat craftsman, architects, engineers and highly professional
technical staff who have always taken special pride in achieving the
highest quality in boat building.
The new building will have an all temperature controlled working
facility for painting and laminating vessels to achieve the highest
quality finish. Currently ACTIVA Marine build their Motor Yachts in
Suzhou China or Kaohsiung Taiwan.
As exciting as the ACTIVA 5300 display is, it’s the company’s future
plans that have the industry buzzing with gossip. The introduction
of the “Legacy” range of Motor Yachts meets the demand of corporate
buyers. These all new luxurious motor yachts can only be described
as stunning. With a profile that could be credited to any of the top
European designer/builders, the “Legacy” range of Motor Yachts will
be offered in 75’ (23 metres) 80’ (24.5 metres) and 85’ (26.1
metres) versions, with a choice of Caterpillar, Volvo IPS or Cummins
diesels.
Kevin Sulzberger says the range has a timeless design that will not
date. Unique features includes walk-around side decks, spacious
cabins, crews quarters if required and al fresco dining for up to
eighteen people on the massive size flybridge.
There’s also a hydraulic swim platform that can be raised and
lowered, offering superb access to and from the vessel. Being a new
creation, it probably comes as no surprise that despite only floor
plans and artist’s impressions being currently available, a
tremendous amount of interest has already been developed in the US,
New Zealand and Australia for the “Legacy”.
“If you want to be among the first to be a part of the most exciting
release in the local marine industry’s history, talk to me sooner
rather than later’” Kevin says. Dealers are also required for NSW,
VIC, SA & WA so trade enquiries are being sort.
